"Music & Rhythmic Gymnastics". October, 17th

This evening will be very special as a lot of other events of the Yuri Bashmet International Music Festival. Artistic Director of the Festival Rostislav Krimer is seems to be master of finding new ways of collaborations between different arts. There have been many cross-over projects during previous editions but this seems to be one of the most touching collaboration.

In the first half of the concert amazing russian cellist  Alexander Knyazev will play the Haydn C Major concerto together with East-West Chamber Orchestra under Rostislav Krimer. This cellist played at best stages on the world and had partners like Mstislav Rostropovich, Evgeny Svetlanov and BBC Symphony.

Then, on one stage with orchestra will come out the numerous prizewinner of World- and European Championships and leader of the Belarus team for rhythmic gymnastics Ekaterina Galkina. They are going to make together with orchestra and Krimer a special performance, which is surely to be one of the highlights of this year's festival.

In the second part East-West Chamber Orchestra, which is described by critics as an ensemble with unique sound and phrase, brilliant forte and dazzled, almost as a breath, pianissimo, is going to perform two M.Weinberg chamber symphonies. It seems important, that being rarely performed if at all in Belarus it will be performed by this esteemed ensemble. Here in Minsk it seems to be a special place to perform this music. Weinberg spent 3 years in Minsk and studied at the Music Conservatory after he run from Poland to the Soviet Union in the beginning of the Second World War.

The East-West Chamber Orchestra is the residence orchestra at the festival and gathers best artists from East and West with the idea of Peace. It consists of laureates of the most prestigious international competitions such as Tchaikovsky, Queen Elisabeth so as concertmasters of renowned orchestras.
